Country2City Bridge
Motivation
The connection from the city to the country with public transport is challenging. In densely populated urban areas, public transport can function space- and cost-efficient. Meanwhile, in the countryside, there is usually no alternative to a personal car.
Project goals
C2CBridge is investigating a customized public transport service that provides attractive alternatives to private cars. Technologies such as digitalization, networking, and automation are opening up new possibilities. One solution component considered in C2CBridge involves autonomous on-demand taxis the size of cars, which can accommodate four people and luggage and operate individually and distributed across the area. When entering urban areas, these vehicles are electronically linked to form a platoon.
Realization of the project
In C2CBridge, technical solutions are to be developed hand in hand with planning concepts. Starting from an in-depth analysis of mobility processes and needs in various types of spaces by social sciences, spatial planning, urban planning, and traffic engineering, prototypes of vehicles and mobility stations will be designed and constructed by mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and architecture, while computer science and mathematics will develop optimal operational concepts.
ITIV participation
- Development of the vehicle’s E/E – Architecture
- Contactless status detection of the transported persons
- Monitoring the condition of passengers using sensors and cameras to detect motion sickness (Kinetosis)
