“In November 2023, KIT distanced itself from Karl Steinbuch, regardless of his professional achievements. As part of this process, KIT decided to rename its Information Technology Center to the Scientific Computing Center (formerly the Steinbuch Center for Computing). The renaming was prompted by new findings by historian A. Guhl, which show, among other things, that Karl Steinbuch identified with reprehensible acts of war even as a young man during the Nazi era. After his period of scientific creativity, Karl Steinbuch increasingly turned to far-right extremist positions.“ (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)
