As part of this year's orientation phase (O-Phase) for the new Bachelor and Master students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ETIT) at KIT, the Institute of Information Processing Technology (ITIV) opened its doors for two days.

The O-Phase not only offers the new students the opportunity to network with each other and gain initial insights into their studies, but also to get to know the research landscape at KIT.

Exciting demonstrators and projects were presented at the ITIV, including

  • KIHT pen - an intelligent pen for recording and analyzing handwriting movements

  • ZuSE-KI-mobil - a demonstrator for recognizing critical driving scenarios on a dedicated AI accelerator architecture

  • PSoC-FPGAa RISC-V audio player SoC that students can develop in the practical course System-on-Chip

  • CAVIL - with interesting information on the latest advances in connected and autonomous vehicle technology.

  • Brain-computer interfaces for measuring visual acuity - an innovative approach to recording visual perception via neuronal signals.

The presentations offered the students exciting insights into practical research and showed how interdisciplinary and future-oriented the work at ITIV is. Many took the opportunity to talk directly to the researchers and find out about possible study projects or theses.

The O-Phase 2025 was therefore not only a successful start to the degree course, but also a motivating insight into the world of modern information technology.
