<Text is generated, please wait...>

As part of a trip to Kenya lasting several days, Prof. Eric Sax and ITIV doctoral students Moritz Zink and Nikola Lukezic visited four universities and educational initiatives to strengthen existing relationships and develop new collaborations. The trip offered inspiring insights into innovative teaching and learning concepts, intercultural exchange and great openness for joint future projects.

Kenyatta University: future-oriented teaching and lifelong learning

The trip began at Kenyatta University in Nairobi. Discussions with Prof. Mary Otieno and the Dean of the School of Education and Life-Long Learning, Samson Ondigi, focused on topics such as lifelong learning, digital teaching and new forms of collaboration. The intercultural exchange provided valuable impetus for future joint activities.

Dandora: examinations in the field of machine learning - on site and in person

As part of the Liberating Education program, ITIV has been supervising the remote lecture "Information Technology & Machine Learning" for students from five learning centers in Kenya for several semesters. In Dandora, the final exams were supervised in person and successful participants were awarded prizes. The direct contact on site impressively demonstrated how effective digital education can be in combination with personal encounters.

Meru University: cooperation in research, teaching and skills development

At Meru University of Science and Technology, a wide range of opportunities for joint research and digital teaching were discussed with representatives of the university. The exchange with local doctoral students also opened up new perspectives on international scientific cooperation.

MMUST: Commitment and expertise for long-term partnerships

The visit to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) was marked by intensive discussions on research cooperation, organizational development and sustainable education initiatives. The great willingness of those involved to travel long distances to make the exchange possible in person was particularly impressive.

Conclusion: A strong start for future joint projects

The trip to Kenya clearly showed how great the potential for international cooperation is - especially where commitment, expertise and genuine partnership come together. ITIV is returning with new contacts, concrete project ideas and the motivation to further expand international cooperation in teaching and research.
