Munich, 8-9 October 2025 - In the elegant ambience of the Kempinski Hotel, leading minds from industry, science and politics gathered for the "Driving the Future Symposium", organized by the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The aim of the event was to present and discuss current developments and research findings relating to the future of the automotive industry in the fields of automotive, artificial intelligence, software-defined vehicles and system architectures.
A total of around 30 experts took part. Among the prominent speakers were Prof. Alois Knoll (TUM) and Prof. Jürgen Becker (KIT). Other well-known guests such as Ferdinand Dudenhöffer (automotive journalist), Knut Hufeld (Infineon) and Prof. Lutz Eckstein (RWTH Aachen, VDI) underlined the high relevance of the symposium.
The focus was on keynote speeches and discussion rounds on innovative technologies and strategies for the mobility of tomorrow. Particular emphasis was placed on research projects with an automotive focus, including CeCas, ZuSe and HAL4SDV, which were presented by the Institute of Information Processing Technology (ITIV). The committed participation of our researchers contributed significantly to the depth of content and interdisciplinary exchange at the symposium.
A particular highlight was the video message from the Federal Minister of Education and Research, who announced the continuation of research funding by the BMBF - a strong signal for the innovative strength of German automotive research.
The symposium provided an excellent platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities of the automotive future.
