BME delegation visits ITIV

Research across borders: KIT and BME intensify German-Hungarian university cooperation

ITIV welcomed a delegation from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). The visit underlines the long-standing partnership between the two universities, which is reflected in joint research projects, doctoral supervision and bilateral events.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eric Sax, Director of the ITIV, welcomed Prof. Dr. habil. Zsolt Szalay, Director of the Institute of Automotive Technologies at BME. Both institutes have a strong focus on vehicle technology and share a strong affinity for the mobility of the future and safety-critical systems.

The exchange focused on topics such as over-the-air communication, safety and security in networked vehicle architectures and the initiation of cross-border projects. A research visit by an employee to Budapest is already planned in order to continue the dialog and further expand the successful collaboration.

"It's a great opportunity for young people to exchange ideas not only about science, but also about concerns and needs. They shape the future - and that doesn't stop at national borders," says Prof. Sax.

A joint workshop provided new impetus for future research projects.

The following topics were covered:

Tobias Schürrmann - Welcome at the FZI
Prof. Zsolt Szalay - Insights into Smart Roads & Entrepreneurship
Tamás Kazár - Simulation for connected vehicles
Daniel Grimm - Cybersecurity monitoring for vehicles
Daniel Baumann - Cloud-based reconfiguration
Árpád Török - AI-based accident avoidance & EU project ideas
Zsombor Pethő - V2X & Digital Twin
Nikola Lukezic - Collective perception in platooning
Maximilian Beck - Testing of cyber-physical systems

Thanks to all participants for the inspiring exchange and the exciting impulses!
