Artificial Intelligence as a Smart Grid Tool

Artificial Intelligence as a Smart Grid Tool

Background

Smart grid is today a keyword for the automation and intelligent use of the electrical network resources, in order to be more eco-friendly. The inclusion of renewable energy sources (RES) has shown to be a difficult task, because of our incapacity of control them. Therefore utilities had to take a new perspective for the management of the system, helping it to adapt and survive to any circumstances. Automated mechanisms to take advantage of maximum RES generation times is, for example, of great importance and one of the key-points for the smart grid of the future.

At ITIV we are working on the electrical network of the future and we need people who are engaged to help us in this subject.

The following topics are open for you right now. Please contact us if you want more information.

Image Processing

Techniques used normally for image processing can be used for several other applications beyond images. The electrical network is distributed on a vast space. Sensor nodes are collecting data on several points, which can be considered as pixels in an image.

Time Series Analysis

All smart grid measurements are labeled with a time stamp. They compose time series, which can be analyze and forecast. This, in combination with artificial intelligence tools and the spatial analysis done with image processing techniques, is the set-tool we use to program the future.
