Environment

Modern vehicles are equipped with an ever-increasing number of sensors. In addition to increasing safety and driving comfort, the goal is to climb the automation levels (SAE J3016) up to complete vehicle automation (level 5). Safeguarding the algorithms and driving functions is essential to achieve these goals. However, the underlying sensors must also deliver reliable results under a wide range of boundary conditions.

Task

For this purpose, data sets of the different sensors used are to be examined with regard to their suitability depending on the weather conditions. For this purpose, suitable data sets are to be selected and evaluated first. Through a subsequent meta-analysis and consolidation of the results, an evaluation system is to be developed which identifies the most suitable sensor set depending on the environmental and boundary conditions.
