Context

The METIS project is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to revolutionize the way we approach the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia. The project is based on the scientific consensus that these diseases are multifactorial processes that translate into declining memory performance based on individual risk profiles. However, currently only 20-50% of all dementia cases are diagnosed, leading to a significant deficit in the detection and treatment of the disease.

METIS aims to address this gap by developing a digital platform that provides low-threshold access to individualized treatment strategies for neurodegenerative diseases in an outpatient setting. By using digital platform-based methods and technologies to guide risk factor-based intervention strategies, METIS aims to provide an innovative solution that enables timely treatment of specific risk factors associated with dementia and other neurological diseases.
The platform will offer a multi-step process integrated with a mobile support solution and accompanied by various tools such as the use of AI to personalize patient-specific risk profiles and direct contact with healthcare professionals. The system is complemented by the use of advanced wearables to fine-tune the patient's holistic health profile and intervention plan.

As a Bachelor's thesis student, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in AI and medical technology while contributing to a project that has the potential to significantly impact healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on various language models, particularly LLMs such as ChatGPT.
  • Evaluate and test these models for potential medical applications
  • Implement API access to selected models
  • Collaborate with our team to integrate language models into our digital platform
  • Optional: research the regulatory environment for AI in medical technology.

Requirements

  • Some experience with LLMs and language models such as ChatGPT (prompt engineering).
  • Willingness to evaluate and implement API access to such models
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
