Environment

To measure the wind, there are many different methods available today. Instead of measuring the wind conventionally by an anemometer and a weather vane, the wind parameters can also be determined with optical technology by studying the air particle movements. This has advantage that it can measure the wind can be measured at a close distance, rather than at the location of the sensor itself.

For this purpose, a laser can be used to illuminate air particles. With the aid of a camera, air particle movements can be recorded and correlation techniques can be used to calculate the wind parameters.
