Development of Digital Healthcare Applications (DiGA) for iOS and Android

Context

The METIS project is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to revolutionize the way we approach the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia. The project is based on the scientific consensus that these diseases are multifactorial processes that translate into declining memory due to individual risk profiles. However, currently only 20-50% of all dementia cases are diagnosed, resulting in a significant deficit in the detection and treatment of the disease.

METIS aims to address this gap by developing a digital platform that provides low-threshold access to individualized treatment strategies for neurodegenerative diseases in an outpatient setting. By using digital platform-based methods and technologies to guide risk factor-based intervention strategies, METIS aims to provide an innovative solution that enables timely treatment of specific risk factors associated with dementia and other neurological diseases.
The platform will offer a multi-step process integrated with a mobile support solution and accompanied by various tools such as the use of AI to personalize patient-specific risk profiles and direct contact with healthcare professionals. In addition, the system is completed by the use of advanced wearables to fine-tune the patient's holistic health profile and intervention plan.

As a Master's student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to this innovative project by developing digital health applications for iOS and Android. Your task will be to implement modules in the platform. This could be a sleep, exercise, nutrition or medication module. In addition, integration of wearable smart sensors and telemedicine are other areas for a possible master thesis. You will conduct your research in close collaboration with our team of scientists at METIS.
