Further development of an ultrasound board for use in the telemedical treatment of psoriasis

Ultraschallboard FZI

Context

In Germany alone, over 8 million people suffer from chronic skin conditions. Wait times for university treatment appointments average 6 months, making it difficult to avoid disease flares and escalations. The HybridVITA project is researching a telemedical approach to enable the treatment of dermatology patients through an online offering via a smartphone app. In addition, a tactile interface is being developed to allow physicians to feel the patients' skin based on images and 3D models without the patients needing to be present. At FZI, an ultrasound board has been set up for this purpose and is now intended for further development.

Tasks

  • You will familiarize yourself with the existing ultrasound board and its performance limits.
  • On this basis, you will develop approaches to extend the performance limits of the board
  • You rebuild the board according to the approaches.

Requirements

  • You are studying electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or a related course of study.
  • You are committed, motivated and have a careful and conscientious way of working.
