Summary of the dissertation
In his dissertation, Jannis Erz investigates how the operational safety of highly automated vehicles can be guaranteed in a systematic and practical manner. To this end, he is developing a normatively integrated, agile and model-based life cycle process that combines standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 with industrial development realities, regulatory requirements and operational areas of automated driving functions.
With the help of operational concepts, scenario-based methods, SafeDevOps, maturity models and a model- and simulation-based development framework, a consistent approach for an evidence-based safety argumentation is created. The case study on an SAE Level 4 highway pilot illustrates the industrial applicability and the contribution of the work to the further development of safe automated mobility.
