New propulsion technologies, digitalization, and automation are shaping modern vehicles and increasing the proportion of electrical/electronic (E/E) systems and software. Especially in the case of buses—which are produced in small quantities with a high degree of product diversity and customized customer requirements—the efficient management of variants is becoming a key challenge. The target of this thesis is to develop a comprehensive concept for E/E development that captures and describes variants in a model-based manner, from the initial idea through to series production. This supports the definition of variants and the derivation of releases, thereby increasing efficiency in the development process.
