Faculty Day in the Audimax: Honors, lectures and musical highlights

On July 25, 2025, this year's "Faculty Day" of the KIT Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology took place in the Audimax of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) - for the first time together with the Mechanical Engineering Day.
Around 300 guests accepted the invitation to a festive event that focused on current developments, scientific impulses and special awards.
After a musical introduction, Dean Prof. Eric Sax opened the event with an overview of news from the faculty.
Further highlights:
- Festive presentation of certificates (Master's, Doctorate, Golden Doctorate)
Inspiring lectures by Prof. Mike Barth & Prof. Peter Rost
Presentation of prestigious prizes such as the R&S Award, SUCCESS Pioneers Award, PI Innovation Award
Musical accompaniment & festive reception
A moving moment of the event was the ceremonial honouring of Dr.-Ing. Sanda Wolf with the "Golden Promotion". More than 50 years ago, on February 9, 1973, she was the first woman to pass her doctoral examination at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology - a milestone in the history of the faculty. Prof.Dr.Dr.h.c. Wolfgang Freude was also awarded the Golden Doctorate - it is remarkable that he is still actively researching and teaching at the Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics (IPQ) today.
Dean Prof. Eric Sax: "A day full of pride, emotions and future prospects."
We congratulate all the award-winning personalities on their success!
