Science meets community: doctoral student retreat in Speyer

This year's doctoral retreat took Prof. Becker's doctoral students to Speyer - a traditional university town in Rhineland-Palatinate and part of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
The participants came together from different areas: some conduct research directly at the Institute for Information Processing Technology (ITIV), others work at the Research Center for Information Technology (FZI) or contribute their perspective from industry. This diversity of backgrounds enriched the exchange and encouraged wide-ranging discussions.
The focus of the retreat week at the beginning of September was on the presentations of the individual doctoral topics, intensive scientific exchange and constructive feedback on the research results. The productive atmosphere provided space for new ideas and professional development.
The supporting program was not neglected either: the joint visit to the Technik Museum Speyer offered exciting insights into the history of aviation and space travel as well as many other fascinating exhibits. In the evening, things got cozy - new contacts were made and team spirit was strengthened during board game rounds in the seminary.
The retreat therefore not only offered an intensive scientific exchange, but was also a successful community experience.
