Gamification for Lifestyle Interventions

Context

A digital platform is to be developed that enables low-threshold access to individual planning and monitoring of lifestyle factor treatments. Since changing lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise, poor diet or bad sleeping habits is often difficult to achieve, digital methods can be useful to strengthen so-called treatment adherence. Our goal is to support treatment processes through gamified pathways. In this context, we are looking for suitable candidates to collaborate on the design and development of a gamification approach to be integrated into a web- and mobile-based platform.

Tasks

As part of your bachelor thesis, you will be responsible for the design and development of selected aspects. A suitable level of gamification must be found in collaboration with experts and potential users. In the development, we need support in the following areas, where people can contribute according to their strengths:

  • You work with a team of developers and experts to develop concepts for gamification and their user-friendly implementation.
  • You prototype these concepts with mockups and implement them with the Flutter Framework.
  • You conduct user testing to evaluate the effectiveness of the concepts.
  • You document the design and development process according to relevant standards in medical device development.

Requirements

Independent thinking and working.

Good knowledge of German or English.

High level of self-motivation and commitment.

Knowledge of web or app development (Flutter/Angular/Docker etc.) or interest in learning these.

Interest in gamification concepts to strengthen treatment adherence.

An idea of user experience design and mobile application development or related topics.

Own creative and innovative approaches within the project.

Familiarity with design tools such as Sketch, Figma or Adobe XD or interest in learning these.
