Open6G Hub

Open6G Hub

Project goals

6G represents a wireless communication in our future, highly networked world. It enables the networking of autonomous devices, vehicles and threats and creates the basis for the high communication bandwidths that will be required in the future. Within the project Open 6G Hub, the development of a global 6G standard is being promoted, on the one hand to take social priorities into account, and on the other to strengthen the position of Germany and Europe in the international competition for 6G. The aim is to develop the resilient and reliable 6G network of the future. Innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence to optimize networks and quantum technology in the field of cryptography are used for this purpose. The structure of the 6G network provides for both 2D networking and 3D networking through the use of satellites, for example. By increasing the communication bandwidth and security, new fields of application in industry and society should be made possible.

ITIV participation

Within the Open 6G Hub, the ITIV was commissioned with tasks relating to data acquisition and the development of hardware accelerators. A system for high-performance recording of antenna measurement data with bandwidths of up to 400 Gbit/s based on a server FPGA architecture is being developed for measurement data acquisition. To integrate FPGA-based hardware accelerators into the software-defined radio development process, a toolbox with appropriate interfaces and hardware accelerators will be designed and developed.
