Energy management system for electrified coaches
Context
Every year, several million people in Germany take the opportunity to travel by coach. Electrification of coaches is therefore essential for the environmentally friendly mobility of tomorrow. However, the limited range of battery-electric buses presents bus operators with new challenges. Optimizing the energy efficiency and thus the range of coaches is becoming increasingly important and should support the electrification of long-distance mobility. Every usable energy storage unit offers a degree of freedom for an intelligent energy management system that directs power flows to increase efficiency and influences the service life of the battery. The development of the energy management system is therefore essential for the appropriate and sustainable use of electrified buses in passenger transport.
