Day of the Faculty 2024
On July 19, 2024, numerous Master's graduates and recent doctoral graduates celebrated their successful graduation with friends and family at the Faculty Day, to which Dean Prof. Dr.-Ing.
Last year, a proud 439 graduates received their Master's certificates, while 69 doctoral students were awarded the coveted doctorate. A truly successful graduation!
In front of an eager audience in the packed NTI lecture hall, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eric Sax spoke about the diverse solutions in electrical engineering and information technology for the major social challenges of tomorrow. The faculty offers a wide range of innovative courses: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechatronics and Information Technology, Optics and Photonics as well as Medical Technology.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrike Krewer from the Institute for Applied Materials - Electrochemical Technologies (IAM-ET) gave the keynote speech on "Electrochemical Technologies for the Energy and Raw Materials Transition" - her inaugural lecture, so to speak.
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sebastian Kempf from the Institute of Micro- and Nanoelectronic Systems (IMS) gave interesting insights into the application of engineering and physical methods with his lecture "Superconducting quantum sensors - key technology for precision applications".
After an impressive period of 50 years, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Riedlinger was awarded the "Golden Doctorate" certificate in recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements in research and teaching.
The event was livened up musically by the duo Leon Winkler (saxophone) and Daniel Salzmann (electric piano). At the reception that followed, there was ample opportunity for discussions and networking in the ITIV foyer to round off the afternoon.
