Context

A highly innovative concept of "on-the-road" vehicle modularization is implemented through the development of the novel modular vehicle U-Shift (https://www.itiv.kit.edu/7295.php). U-Shift is a fully autonomous electric vehicle consisting of a U-shaped drive board for highly flexible capsule shifting and capsules for transporting people and goods.

Currently, the active U-Shift II project is on its way to permanently change the business model "automobile" and ITIV is one of the partners. The goal of this project is to functionally demonstrate the modularization of vehicles "on the road". Further E/E components have to be developed on existing and new hardware to support the innovative goals of the project.

Tasks

  • Implementation of software parts of the orchestrator module for SOA
  • Develop and reconfigure various types of software components for the Personal Capsule
  • Development of a communication strategy of the hardware components with (W)LAN, CAN and 4G for the driveboard

Requirements

  • Good knowledge in programming (C/C++ and/or Python)
  • First experiences with embedded systems (not mandatory, but preferred)
  • First experiences with ROS2 (not mandatory, but preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for vehicle electronics, automotive industry and the mobility of tomorrow
