Research Assistant at METIS - Medical Apps for the Treatment of Cognitive Decline

Context

The METIS project is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to revolutionize the way we approach the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia. The project is based on the scientific consensus that these diseases are multifactorial processes that translate into declining memory due to individual risk profiles. However, currently only 20-50% of all dementia cases are diagnosed, resulting in a significant deficit in the detection and treatment of the disease.

METIS aims to close this gap by developing a digital platform that provides low-threshold access to individualized treatment strategies for neurodegenerative diseases in an outpatient setting. By using digital platform-based methods and technologies to guide risk factor-based intervention strategies, METIS aims to provide an innovative solution that enables timely treatment of specific risk factors associated with dementia and other neurological diseases.

The platform will offer a multi-step process integrated with a mobile support solution and accompanied by various tools such as the use of AI to personalize patient-specific risk profiles and direct contact with healthcare professionals. In addition, the system is completed by the use of advanced wearables to fine-tune the patient's holistic health profile and intervention plan.

Our team is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant to join us in our mission to revolutionize medical technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform research and development activities related to medical apps for the treatment of cognitive decline.
• Assist in the development of the METIS app using Flutter and Dart.
• Assist in the integration of web technologies into the platform
• Collaborate with team to develop and implement intervention strategies based on risk factors
• Assist with communication and coordination with healthcare professionals or patients

Requirements

• Student of electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, medical technology, physics, economics, or related field of study
• Highly motivated and able to work through real-world challenges
• Experience in medical technology is a plus, but not required
• Proficiency with Flutter or web technologies and Git
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
