Prototyping and Implementation of FEEDI – The Smart Navigation Foot Bracelet

.
.

The Story:

Imagine being on a business trip. In the afternoon you want to make your daily workout but your hotel is in an unknown area. Running close to a street isn't that convenient. Sure, you could use Google maps and find the closest park, but stopping at every corner and looking at the screen is not what you want after a long workday. The audio guide would solve this but it is annoying and distracts you from your surroundings or favorite music.

Wouldn't it be great to have a navigation solution that is hands, eyes and ears free? Shouldn't navigation be an additional sense to us?

What to do:

FEEDI is a smart, stylish, comfortable and lightweight foot bracelet that is worn right above the ankle. It uses haptic feedback to guide the user in the right direction. After the desired route is selected in the FEEDI app, the bracelet can operate as a standalone device.

Receiving haptic feedback at the ankle could be a novel, intuitive way of navigation. The indications of direction are
easily perceptible. Just move into the direction you feel on your ankle.
